Relay Technician

Our client is a leading electrical contractor providing High Voltage asset life-cycle management solutions to clients throughout the Power Industry in Australia. With a strong pipeline of contracts this industry leading organisation are seeking to grow their team to build, maintain and improve high voltage infrastructure in South Australia.

This is a great opportunity for experienced professionals to work on large-scale projects including battery, solar and wind farms, and high voltage transmission assets, to ongoing maintenance plans and stand alone installations.

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Relay Technician to join this high performing team based in Adelaide with a good balance of local and regional site works as locations will vary from regional South Australia sites and remote locations around Australia.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this role you will need:

Essential

·Diagnostic and high voltage testing.
·Test a wide range of Protection Relays, including but not limited to ABB, SEL, Areva, Siemens protection relays.
·Operation of a broad range of test equipment, such as Omicron, Baur, and Doble.
·Primary and Secondary Injection Testing.
·HV and LV switchboard commissioning and testing.
·Circuit Breaker, CT, VT, busbar testing.
·Full understanding of schematic drawings and electrical protection schemes.
·Transformer testing and commissioning.
·Planning and reporting skills.
·Ability to think logically and to use initiative in identifying and solving problems.
·Be self-motivated with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
·Think on your feet and adapt to a wide range of technical issues that may develop during scheduled shutdown periods.
·Knowledge of appropriate Australian and International Standards.
·Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
·Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
·Drivers Licence.
·Current CPR/LV Rescue Training
·Demonstrated experience with commissioning and testing of HV equipment.
·Availability work travel inter/intra state on a regular basis.


Desired

·Electrical Engineering Degree
·Experience testing diff and distance protection schemes
·Ability to interpret HV protection Settings and Logic Files and make changes to suit the system requirements
·A Class SA Electrical Licence
·GIS Switchgear experience and OEM training
·Experience with IEC61850, SF6, Partial Discharge Testing
·EWP "High Risk" License
·Working at heights
