Overview
The Electrical Tradesperson will provide a high level of technical expertise in electrical maintenance, performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities and modifications of complex electrical and generation equipment associated with critical power generating plant operating on natural gas and diesel fuels.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Undertake reactive and predictive maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Manage and investigate critical plant emergency incidents, complete plant failure/condition technical reports and efficiency assessments.
• Undertake operational and technical commissioning tasks while working with engineering teams and other trades.
• Maintain gas/diesel reciprocating engines, gas turbines and electrical power generation equipment.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of site records to ensure accurate historical information for maintenance purposes, including use of the maintenance management system and time confirmation of all tasks.
• Liaise with contractors coming on site and manage relevant permits and contractor supervision to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the power station plant.
• Participate in an on call roster and travel to other stations when required.
What you need to succeed:
• Must hold A Grade Electrical/Fitter Mechanic trade qualifications or equivalent technical work experience within the power generation industry.
• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed fault-finding on complex electrical systems, isolate multiple energy sources and work within permit to work systems.
• Demonstrated competence in the area of work place safety and commitment to safe work practices.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills which result in effective team membership and contribution to work place objectives.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings and procedures.
• Sound ability to work in a Permit to Work system that ensures safety to all personnel and ability to work unsupervised yet still maintain constant interaction with operational staff.
• Well-developed computer literacy.
• Have or be able to obtain an NT drivers license and have the ability to participate in an on call roster.
Highly desirable:
• Experience in large scale heavy industry environments.
• Experience in gas, diesel or solar generation.
• High Risk Licences (CSE, Forklift, Working at Heights, EWP), current senior first aid or ability and willingness to obtain.
• Current hazardous area electrical installation, inspection and maintenance certification.
What we offer:
• Attractive remuneration of $104,656 to $124,650 + super + allowances (however salary is negotiable)
• ASAP commencement until 15th August 2025 (possible extension and perm on offer)
• Based in Alice Springs NT
• On call roster
