Why the Eraring BESS Matters:
Large-scale battery energy storage systems play a vital role in Australia's energy transition by supporting renewable energy sources while providing firming capacity and stability to the National Electricity Grid.
The Eraring BESS is designed to support renewable project development by charging during the day when solar energy is abundant and discharging into the grid during peak periods. Located at Eraring, the BESS utilises existing transmission infrastructure, minimising the need for additional construction.
Project Highlights:
• All three stages of the Eraring BESS are currently under construction
• Stage one and three (460MW each with a dispatch duration of four hours) are scheduled to come online in Q4 2025
