Our client is one of the largest employers in the NT, our client who supply the water, electricity generation and retail services across the region are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Employee Relations Specialist on a 6-month temporary basis commencing immediately!

About the role:
You will provide specialist employee and industrial relations advice and case management to support leaders in managing ER, performance, conduct, and workplace issues. This role is central to embedding consistent, proactive, and values-aligned people practices across the organisation and is responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation, enterprise agreements, and industrial instruments.

Key responsibilities:
• Manage ER cases from intake to resolution, including disciplinary processes, performance management, and grievance handling.
• Manage end-to-end workplace investigations into allegations of misconduct, bullying, discrimination, and other complex matters.
• Draft high-quality investigation reports, letters of allegation and outcome, and supporting documentation.
• Provide specialist advice to managers on complex ER and industrial matters, ensuring compliance with legislation and enterprise agreements.
• Provide clear, practical advice to leaders on employment law, enterprise agreements, and people policies.
• Support union consultation and enterprise bargaining processes, including drafting correspondence, and briefing materials.
• Represent the organisation in external forums such as the Fair Work Commission and prepare instructions for Counsel when required.
• Monitor ER trends and contribute to policy development, manager capability uplift, and continuous improvement in ER practices.
• Champion a constructive and collaborative ER culture aligned with Power and Water's values and strategic priorities.
• Identify emerging ER and investigation trends and contribute to improvements in policy, training, and tools.
• Partner with HR Business Partners to build leader capability and promote early, constructive resolution of workplace issues.
• Develop processes, policies and documentation to support new ways of working
• Ad hoc duties as required by Supervisor.

What you need to succeed:
• Extensive experience and knowledge of employment law and regulations
• Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and mediation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in HRIS systems and reporting tools.
• Relevant degree in Employment Law (highly regarded)
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and applying employment laws in practical scenarios (highly regarded)
