About the Role:

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a Tier 1 Electrical Contractor as National Contracting Manager and play a key role within the executive team. Reporting directly to the CEO and supporting State General Managers (GMs), you will be responsible for leading national design and construction projects within the electrical sector. Position Summary:
This role is essential in overseeing the full lifecycle of the Electrical Construction Division's national projects, ensuring they are compliant, financially viable, and delivered safely and on time. The National Contracting Manager will play a pivotal role in driving consistent and continued project success and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Management:
  • Lead and support Project Managers and teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment with company goals
  • Implement company policies, systems, and procedures effectively across projects
  • Develop strong client relationships and maintain project status awareness for early problem-solving

Financial Performance & Sustainability:
  • Collaborate with the CEO and State General Managers to develop business plans for sustainable growth
  • Monitor and report on financial targets, ensuring compliance with agreed budgets and project requirements
  • Review and approve project budgets and provide regular performance updates

Capability Building:
  • Develop training and development plans to build skills and knowledge within the Division
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and divisions

Leadership & Development:
  • Ensure the alignment of all activities with the company's strategy and values
  • Provide mentoring and performance feedback to Project Managers and staff
  • Foster a positive, safe, and solution-oriented workplace culture

Client Relationship Management:
  • Act as a senior point of contact for key clients, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure project satisfaction

Quality Assurance:
  • Oversee quality control processes, troubleshooting and resolving issues efficiently
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality

Safety Compliance:
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership through regular site visits and active engagement with staff
  • Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies and adequate training for all personnel
  • Report safety incidents promptly and take proactive steps to maintain a safe work environment

Skills and experience required:

  • Extensive experience within the electrical construction industry, with expertise in estimating, project management (Tier 1 and Tier 2 projects), and construction management
  • Background in Electrical engineering or an electrical trade
  • Proven experience in senior management roles, including P&L responsibility and financial oversight (WIPs, Budgets/Forecasting)
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, construction processes, safety regulations, and Australian standards
  • Proficient in project management software (MS Project, MS Excel) and reporting tools
  • Ability to travel regularly across Australia to oversee multiple project sites
