On behalf of the Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Red Appointments are currently seeking to recruit multiple paralegals to provide high quality administrative and paralegal advice and support to the summary prosecutions team within the DPP.

The DPP in the Northern Territory plays a central role in the criminal justice system, with responsibilities defined by the Director of Public Prosecutions Act 1990. The DPP is responsible for instituting, preparing, and conducting criminal prosecutions on behalf of the Crown before the various courts throughout the Northern Territory.

Current vacancies:
Paralegal (AO4) x 4

Salary Range:
$75,091 - 85,611

Key Requirements:

  • Prepare legal documentation and briefs, including briefs for defence counsel.
  • Liaise with courts and police, respond to telephone enquiries, and maintain file and document management systems.
  • Manage a range of concurrent activities in a timely and efficient manner, with minimum supervision, ensuring that deadlines are adhered to.
  • Proven ability to provide high level administrative support and paralegal advice as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality to summary prosecutors within the DPP.
  • Experience in document and file management, with sound legal/general administrative experience, including a sound working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs and electronic databases, with significant experience in drafting correspondence.
  • Desirable to have a Certificate in legal studies, or working towards a degree in Law or similar.
