Joining an established manufacturer, you will lead and take ownership of the structural steel detailing, working collaboratively with the Engineering and Design teams to ensure effective delivery of projects.

This is a full time permanent role based in Edinburgh, South Australia.

Your responsibility areas will include but not be limited to:

  • Review and interpret design drawings and specifications
  • Participate positively in implementing a strong 3D CAD capability within the team
  • Develop detailed shop drawings for steel fabrication based on architectural and engineering plans
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements
  • Scrutinize architectural and engineering drawings to understand project requirements
  • Identify and resolve issues related to detailing, fabrication, or construction during the design phase
  • Provide accurate quantity take-offs and material lists
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of drawings
  • Learn and understand the clients design and construction methods to conform to standard practices
  • Review detailing and drafting work to ensure compliance and correct interpretation of design intent
  • Prepare as built drawings from RLM, as well as conceptual rigging arrangement drawings
  • Liaise with clients in relation to drawings, issue drawings to client and subsequent revisions
  • Develop departmental standard drawing database, structural library


ESSENTIAL skills and experience required to be successful in this role:
  • Degree or equivalent in structural / architectural drafting
  • Demonstrated experience in structural or architectural drafting in steel buildings
  • Proficient in any of the following 3D modelling software Advance Steel/Tekla
  • Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 1554 & AS/NZS 5131 relating to detailing, fabrication and welding of steel structures and steel detailing, construction methods and their impact on design
  • Excellent internal and external key stakeholder management
  • Effective communication and time management skills
