Our client, who is a government owned corporation, and produces the majority of the electricity to the people of the Northern Territory are seeking a suitably qualified and skilled Power Station Operator based in Alice Springs on a 2-year fixed term contract.

Overview
Based permanently in Alice Springs, the Operator will work shift work as required to achieve effective monitoring of generating plant and associated equipment across the differing technologies at the power station.

Key accountabilities include:

Operational Coordination: Collaborate with the Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Berrimah to ensure the smooth operation of the power station. Operate parts or entire sections of the station in local mode under ROC directives.

Maintenance Management: Work closely with the Outside Operator Manager to implement Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) processes, facilitating safe access to plant facilities for maintenance activities.

Routine Operations: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance routines on various equipment, including gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and water treatment plants. Utilize the ERP system (Pronto) for defect identification and tracking.

Work Hours Tracking: Record work activities and hours accurately through associated work orders in the ERP system (Pronto).

Shift Work: Be part of our 24/7 shift roster, demonstrating flexibility to work during both day and night shifts.

Safety and Efficiency: Ensure the safety of personnel on-site and maintain reliable and efficient power station operations. Adhere strictly to safety, environmental, and quality policies and corporate values.

Selection Criteria:
Essential:
Commitment to workplace safety
• AQF Level III Certificate or equivalent experience
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Technical analysis ability and computer literacy
• Experience with shift work

Desirable:
• Experience with power station equipment; gas turbines, dual fuel and spark fired reciprocating engines (Man Diesel 51/60DF and GE J624 Jenbacher's);
• Exposure to defect reporting ensuring that information and accuracy of defect is of a high standard
• Mechanical/Electrical trade certification
• Industry experience and familiarity with Permit to Work systems

Allowances & Benefits:
• 2-year fixed term contract
• Salary of $89,939-$109,350 p/annum (based on experience)
• Allowance package range of $46,669-$58,712 (based on experience)
• 6 weeks recreation leave per annum.
• Ability to purchase up to an additional 6 weeks of leave.
• Relocation allowance of up to 10 weeks for those relocating from outside of Alice Springs.

This is a live-in role on location in Alice Springs - NOT FIFO.
