Our client is a privately owned NFP WA Aboriginal organisation based in Port Hedland delivering services to communities around property management, environmental health, municipal services, and the provision of maintenance and essential services. They are currently seeking Diesel Mechanic/Fitters with experience in power generation, gen sets and installations to join their new project team on a FIFO roster of 3:2 to Port Hedland for an immediate start.

Position Overview
Working as part of a two-person crew alongside an electrician on FIFO 3:2 roster on a designated run alongside an Electrician. You will be responsible for the maintenance and reliability of remote diesel generator power systems, ensuring continuous crucial power for power stations, generators on remote bores and power reticulation that serve 28 Aboriginal communities in the Pilbara region and its surroundings.

About the role
• Perform maintenance, repair, and installation of diesel power generation equipment and gen sets
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in power generation systems
• Conduct routine inspections, testing, and calibration of generators to ensure optimal performance
• Carry out emergency repairs and breakdown assistance as required
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new power generation equipment
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work

Skills & Experience
The successful candidate for this role must be able to demonstrate:
• Proven experience as a Diesel Fitter or Diesel Mechanic with a focus on power generation and gen sets
• Relevant trade qualification and certifications in diesel mechanics or related field
• Technical expertise, including knowledge of diesel engines and generators
• Experience with modern electronically controlled diesel engines (e.g. Hino, Volvo, Caterpillar, Scania)
• Proven experience with automated multi-engine power stations
• Medium Rigid (MR) Licence (HR Licence preferred)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote, FIFO environment
• Current National Police Check
• Current CPR, LVR, and First Aid certifications
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols

• FR$62.50 per hour, 11.5-hour workdays - Gross $15,093.75 per swing + Super
• Additional $90 per day LAFA (meals) - $1,850 per swing
