Our client, a well-established national electro-technology company, seeks to engage the services of an experienced Electrical Engineering Services Division Manager for their SA state office. You will report directly to the State General Manager and take responsibility for managing the division at a P&L level.

The division provides electrical engineering services including high voltage installation and maintenance works, field service works, and preventative maintenance programs such as the TEGG maintenance process. The business has long-standing relationships with customers across a wide range of major and critical infrastructure environments, including airports, defence bases, major sporting venues, public and private hospitals, power and water infrastructure, and mine sites.

Through your strong business acumen, well-honed business development capabilities and financial expertise, you will ensure multiple electrical and maintenance services minor works contracts are won, managed, and delivered to ensure continued profitability, sustainability and growth for the division. The role will involve managing existing clients while also securing new clients to ensure continuous and steady growth of the division.

Key Responsibilities - Division Manager, Engineering Services

  • Lead, manage and mentor a team including an operations manager, sales representatives, estimator, service/project managers and support administration staff
  • Financial and commercial management of multiple electrical and maintenance minor works contracts across a range of sectors including commercial, health, industrial, defence, education, and infrastructure
  • Implement divisional strategy, growth initiatives and business plans, including preparation and management of budgets and financial forecasts
  • Through supporting the GM and successfully managing your team, ensure profitability, sustainability, and continued growth
  • Ensure effective and efficient use of resources across the engineering services division
  • Identify, monitor, and achieve agreed financial targets
  • Lead business development activities, manage key stakeholders, and participate in tender negotiations and presentations
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with long-standing clients across major infrastructure and essential services sectors
  • Drive the professional development of your team, including mentoring, performance management and overseeing apprentice recruitment, intake, and development
  • Collaborate proactively with the wider national division management team to share opportunities, resources, and operational improvements
  • Support the GM to provide commercial and operational reporting at senior management and board

Skills and Experience Required

  • A proven track record of successfully managing electrical and maintenance services contracts across sectors such as commercial, health, industrial, defence, education, infrastructure, or resources
  • Electrical Trade or Electrical Engineering background
  • Experience managing high voltage maintenance and installation works will be highly regarded
  • Substantial experience at managerial level within the electrical industry with a track record of delivering agreed financial and operational targets
  • Proven financial acumen, including previous accountability for department or divisional P&Ls and budget preparation.
  • Experience in managing contract and project deliverables successfully across multiple sites and clients
  • A strong influencer, negotiator, and business developer, able to demonstrate success in winning new business while maintaining long-term client relationships
  • Strong networking capability with a relationship-focused approach to business development and stakeholder management
  • Excellent people management skills with the ability to bring out the best in direct reports through leading, coaching, motivating and professional development
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and networking skills and relationships within the SA market
  • Highly developed numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience presenting to senior management and board-level stakeholders in relation to project performance, forecasting and reporting
  • Good IT literacy (project software, spreadsheets, project/P&L reporting)
  • Formal business or management qualifications highly desirable
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required
