The role:
We're seeking a practical, site-experienced HR Advisor to support a defence and construction project environment. This is a true end-to-end generalist role, responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing HR support across multiple blue- and white-collar roles. You will work closely with supervisors, project leaders and office-based teams, providing clear, practical advice in a fast-paced operational setting.
This role is well suited to an HR professional who understands trade and site-based workforces and is comfortable balancing compliance requirements with a hands-on and solutions-focused approach.
Key responsibilities:
The HR Advisor will manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding for trades, operational, technical, and corporate roles, while providing day-to-day advice on employee relations, performance management and workforce matters. A key part of the role involves interpreting and applying Enterprise Agreements, Awards, and employment conditions, and providing clear guidance to managers and site leaders.
You will prepare employment contracts, variations and documentation, support investigations, grievances, and compliance activities, and maintain accurate HR systems and employee records. The role also includes participation in toolbox talks, site-based engagement activities, training coordination and people-related projects that support continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
The position requires travel to other Adelaide-based offices and project sites, and occasional early starts from 7:00am to support toolbox talks and site operations.
About you:
You will hold a tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline and have at least two years' experience in an HR Advisor or HR Generalist role. Strong experience supporting construction, engineering, defence, or trade-based workforces is essential, along with demonstrated capability interpreting Enterprise Agreements and other industrial instruments.
You will bring a solid working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, be confident engaging with site crews and operational leaders, and take a practical, solutions-focused approach. A current driver's licence and access to a vehicle are required due to occasional travel between Adelaide based sites.
