Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their leadership team in Alice Springs. About the Role
As the Operations Manager, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and high-level advice across regional electricity generation operations. You will lead safe, reliable plant operations, support a strong safety culture, guide 24/7 operational teams and ensure the performance of critical plant and emergency systems.
This role plays an important part in ensuring operational excellence, compliance and continuous improvement across the region's generation assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of ASPS generation assets (OSPS & RGPS)
- Lead and promote a positive HSE culture across operational teams
- Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Oversee the readiness and reliability of critical plant and emergency systems, including black start capability
- Manage the Permit to Work system, competency assessments, incident reporting and action closure
- Lead plant failure investigations, including root cause analysis and defect elimination
- Support planned outages, resourcing and fuel management to optimise reliability and cost efficiency
- Provide effective leadership to 24/7 operations teams, supporting capability, performance and fatigue management
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice and oversee regional power generation operations
- Strong leadership and resource management skills in complex operational environments
- Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation and stakeholder management capability
- Experience with dual-fuel gas turbines, reciprocating engines and heavy rotating equipment
- Comprehensive power generation knowledge supported by relevant qualifications or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of HSE legislation with significant experience in safety and environmental management
- Experience managing 24/7 operations including production, maintenance coordination, risk-based decision making and roster management
- Demonstrated ability to prepare complex technical and operational reports
- Ability to work in accordance with safety, environmental and quality requirements
- Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications
- Experience working in isolated grid networks
- Experience with computer-based work scheduling or asset management systems
