Our client is a leader in Australia's dimension stone industry, supplying premium granite to major projects nationwide. They are seeking an experienced and safety driven Mine Deputy to take on a pivotal leadership role at their granite Granite Quarry, located approximately 90km from Darwin.

About the Role:
As Mine Deputy, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant day to day operations of the quarry, while leading and developing a high performing team. Key responsibilities include:

• Enforcing all safety policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
• Conducting and documenting pre shift safety inspections of pits, equipment and work areas
• Leading daily safety meetings, toolbox talks and training sessions
• Investigating incidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions
• Supervising quarry personnel and daily mining activities including drilling, cutting, loading and hauling
• Overseeing the extraction of granite blocks to ensure quality standards are achieved
• Working closely with the Quarry Manager to develop and execute short range mining plans
• Monitoring equipment performance and coordinating with maintenance teams to minimise downtime
• Maintaining accurate safety, production and compliance records

Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong leadership capability and solid quarry experience, including:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in surface mining, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of quarry operations and heavy equipment
• Experience with drilling and cutting techniques (diamond wire saw and wheel saw highly regarded)
• Excellent problem solving, decision making and communication skills
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and motivate teams
• A proactive and uncompromising approach to safety
• Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment
• Valid driver's licence
• White card

Desirable:

• Experience in granite or hard rock quarrying
• Tertiary qualifications in Mine Engineering, Geology or a related field
