RED Appointments are seeking to engage a Senior Electrical Estimator to join a very well-established national electrical contractor at their Sydney office located in the western suburbs. As the senior estimator you will mentor and support two estimators. Suitable candidates will have five or more years of experience, estimating on projects at 5m to 15m AUD and ideally above, for the electrical component.
The Role:
Reporting to the Division Manager and working closely together with the DM and two other electrical estimators, you will provide accurate and competitive estimates to continuously win a range of tenders. The role is pivotal in ensuring that the cost of supplies and labour is sound, and the projects are sustainable and profitable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and develop accurate job cost estimates meeting all agreed timeframes, whilst ensuring all profit margins and cost objectives are met on all tenders
- As a Senior Estimator, mentor, support, and provide guidance to two estimators
- Assist management with pursuing tender leads and opportunities
- Assist in tender preparations, presentations, negotiations, and submission
- Assist in the selection of suitable suppliers/contractors and always obtain best pricing
- Be instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with key industry personnel
Skills / Experience required:
- At least five years of experience as an electrical estimator, preparing quotes from 5m AUD to 15m AUD and ideally above, for the electrical component (commercial, health, education, or defence)
- Experience in reviewing projects to define scope and in presenting to senior management
- Sound knowledge and experience in using MS Excel for quoting
- Excellent planning and prioritising ability and commitment to meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport with a range of internal/external stakeholders
